Marriott Oliver is a proud supporter of local charities and is pleased to sponsor the Shoalhaven Bashers team for the Variety Bash 2011.
The Bashers left on Saturday the 6th of August from Baulkham Hills. They had overnight stops at Inverell, Charleville, Longreach, Cloncurry, Mt Isa, Tenant Creek, Top Springs, Kununurra, Mount Barnett and Derby before finally finishing in Broome. They travelled almost 6,000 kilometres. The Shoalhaven Bashers were one of 107 cars that entered the event and raised $1.8million for special, disabled and disadvantaged children.
Their car, number 27, participates in the Bash as “the m&m’s”. This year their sponsors provided them with 3,000 packets of m&m’s so you can imagine that they were very popular in the outback, not only with the kids but the adults as well!!!
Marriott Oliver joined other local Shoalhaven businesses to help the Bashers raise a minimum of $8,500 to the bash. All donations made go directly to Variety, The Children’s Charity and each individual entrant covers the cost of preparing their car, fuel, accommodation and meals.
The Shoalhaven Bashers and Variety have a saying that “When we help a child, we help a family. When we help a family, we help a community.”
