Commitment to the Local Community

Marriott Oliver has a strong commitment to community support. Partners Leonie Sinclair and Anne Brown recently conducted a pro bono Wills, Powers of Attorney and Enduring Guardianship information session for members of the indigenous community. They then assisted in finalising these essential legal documents for the participants in the program.

Leonie and Anne have a long history with providing similar services to various sectors of the wider community. For the last two years Leonie and Anne have been working with the Cancer Council of NSW to provide free Wills, Powers of Attorney and Enduring Guardianship documents to people suffering from Cancer who are undergoing treatment and who could not normally afford to have these very important documents prepared. Leonie and Anne find it personally and professionally rewarding to assist members of the community, particularly when they are in need.

Anne made a significant contribution to the Wills Awareness Day, organised by the Shoalhaven Law Society, in conjunction with the NSW Law Society, by running two free information sessions on the topics of Wills, Powers of Attorney and Enduring Guardianship documents. These presentations help to educate the community about the importance of these legal documents and how to access legal assistance to achieve estate planning goals.

Marriott Oliver also supports the development and achievements of youth in the Shoalhaven. The firm recently provided financial support to 19 year old Kirsty Higgison in order for her to attend the Rescue 2012 World Surf Life Saving Championships in Perth.

In addition to supporting the youth of Shoalhaven, Marriott Oliver is heavily involved with other community organisations. Carolyn Hagedoorn is a member of South Nowra Rotary Club. Anne Brown is on the executive of the Shoalhaven Business Chamber and is the Deputy Chairperson of the Nowra CBD Committee. Leonie Sinclair is the secretary of Albatross Aero Club, the chairperson of Shoal Coast Community Legal Centre and she is on the Committee of the Shoalhaven Professional Business Association.
